Obituary of Beverly J. Coon

Beverly J. (Evans) Coon Age 92 of Horseheads, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 26th 2021. Beverly was born on June 12, 1928 in Elmira to the late J. Maxwell and Helen (Sturdevant) Evans of Horseheads, NY. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Frederick C. Coon; son Gary Coon; grandson Gregory Coon; as well as her brothers Donald, Norman, and James Evans; and sister Marlene Bischoff. She is survived by her sister Marilyn Flemens; sister-in law and brother-in-law Betty (Clark) Barnes, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard (Jean) Coon; her sons and daughters, Lawrence (Cheryl) Coon of Corning, NY, David (Janice) Coon of Fairport, NY, Thomas (Virginia) Coon of Corning, NY, Deborah (Kenneth) Trammel of Phelps, NY, Jacqueline (Donald) Sempler of Horseheads, NY, Donald (Jeanne) Coon of Elmira, NY, and Louise Coon of California; grandchildren Brian Coon, Michael Coon, Brennan (Kristin) Coon, Sarah (Michael) Rosskamm, Timothy Coon, Chelsea (Ryan) Wilkes, Kendra and Jonah Trammel, Joshua (Laine) Sempler, Mark and Jeanine Sempler, Hannah Coon, Alexander (Jeanette) Coon, and Ashtyn Coon; 16 great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. Beverly was a devoted, caring wife, mother, and grandmother; she will be missed dearly by all those who loved her. Beverly and Fred loved to camp and travel throughout their years together, and they loved sharing stories about their adventures. Bev was an avid reader; she loved having her family over for meals and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. Photo albums full of treasured memories and newspaper clippings of her family will be enjoyed for years to come. There will be a private service held at the Barber Funeral Home in Horseheads, NY. Committal and interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, NY. Beverly’s family would like to thank the home health care aids, special neighbor and friend, Lori, and CareFirst for the dedication and compassion shown in her time of need.
