During my childhood years he was Uncle Dick. He and my aunt frequently took me on outings. One time we even traveled to North Carolina together. Dick always treated me with dignity and respect. He never was inappropriate with his conduct. He made me laugh and brought joy into my childhood. Although I left the Elmira area in the 1970’s, Dick has always held a special place in my heart. I’m glad that a few years ago I had the opportunity to thank him. It saddens me that he suffered for so long. He will be missed!

I always thought so much of Dick. We were cousins. I saw a lot of him growing up. Then as an adult my daughter, Rachael, and I rented a house from him. He was great to us. He was always ready to help in any way he could. I remember what a good sense of humor he always had. He was fun to be around. Stefanie, Linsey, and Rachael played together a lot. It was really handy because they lived next door. I will always remember those days as a very special time. Love and prayers to all at this very sad time. Rose Anna Sweet Murray

Thinking of his family at this difficult time. I’m so goad I had the chance to meet him. Although it was only a couple of times, it’s easy to see why he was so loved. Don’t be too sad that he’s moved on to a better place… be happy that we had the chance to have him here for as long as we did.
