Obituary of Ruth B. Toney

Ruth Ballard Toney 12/7/1942 to 6/4 /2024. We celebrate Ruth Ballard Toney today with joy and tears and will remember her uniqueness going forward. She has moved on to be with God, explore the universe and know the kingdom of heaven and of course dance as she has desired for years. She was an exemplar of a life of happiness, and temperance. She clarified for those who knew her the value of a positive perspective and that everything is navigable. She was perpetually hopeful, a captain for many helping to right lives to be buoyed with her advice and wise words. She showed us the value of assisting others who need help. She knew the subtle details of our lives and relished sharing her thoughts and opinions. She was a loving daughter predeceased by her parents, a wife, predeceased by her husband and a mother survived by her children, their children and her children's children. She was also a sister predeceased by her brothers and survived by her beautiful sister. She had nieces, nephews and dear friends especially the Hickory girls. Without hesitation she would assist a stranger and she saw others as herself. She was a soul devoted to life and promoting good. She was a community philanthropist, supporting and loving people in her everyday life, those who needed a smile, a shoulder to cry on or something else to get them through. She will be profoundly missed and always in our hearts. The angels are rejoicing. The gates of heaven have opened, and Ruth has arrived. Family and friends are invited to visit the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, NY on Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 from 4pm to 7 pm. Her funeral service and prayers will follow at 7 pm. Ruth will be laid to rest in Woodlawn National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
